We’ve entered the planning phases of a brand new app. It’s something we, of course, can’t tell you the specifics of for several reasons:
...We don’t know them ourselves.
...They’ll probably change a lot before we’re done.
...After exploring, we might decide not to finish the project due to several reasons.
...It’s a competitive advantage to be somewhat secretive when building niche apps.
...Keeping things a secret builds interest, and makes the whole thing more fun.
Still, keeping everything secretive goes against our nature. We love to share, and we love to help the community. As an experiment, we’re going to share some of the growing pains we’re experiencing as we plan, sweat and think about this new app. Keep Reading

Last week we announced the all new Staction AIR app. It was the first of many apps that we hope are built by us, and others using the Staction API.
Today we’re excited all over again to announce the Staction widget for the Mac OSX Dashboard.
Learn more about the new widget, and download it here.

Meet me, Kristin. I’m a writer here at Paste. Here are 5 songs I like at the moment.
1. Party in the U.S.A by Miley Cyrus.
I know, it’s Miley, and the video has caught some heat, but the song is catchy.
2. All the Right Moves by OneRepublic.
The beat is great, and OneRepublic always has interesting lyrics.
3. Need You Now by Lady Antebellum.
I’m loving the group sound these days- adds a little rock to classic country.
4. Give Me the Meltdown by Rob Thomas.
These lyrics fit most parts of life, and it’s fun to sing to. In my car, of course.
5. Everything by Michael Buble.
Every song he’s ever recorded is note-worthy in my book, but if I have to choose just one…
What’s this? We decided you might like to know more about the people behind the apps at Paste. Periodically we’ll post little bits about us. No worries though, we’ll stop well short of TMI.

When we built Staction we imagined it as a format and a platform as well as an app. The simple tagging system begs to be extended outside of the bowser.
The first step towards that goal was the Staction API. The second step was built from the first, and we’re very happy to announce it today: The Staction AIR app.
Now Staction can live on your desktop, outside of your browser. The app encompasses all the most important features of the Staction web app, as well as some desktop class features like keyboard shortcuts, and update notifications that we’re very excited for you to try out.
We hope this is only the first of many new ways to access your Staction account via the API. We’re working internally and with outside developers to make sure that we push the Staction experience as far as possible…

WIRED Magazine recently published an article in their print edition about daydreaming being a more productive activity than most people think. It got us thinking about what we daydream of, and we can’t help but agree that a little mind-wander here and there isn’t a bad thing. The problem is not having a way of tracking where your mind goes, prohibiting you from turning those thoughts into something useful.
“For years, brain scientists viewed a wandering mind as merely a lapse in cognition. But recent studies have found that we lose concentration shockingly often. Keep Reading

Meet Joe. He’s another guy who works on stuff here. Now you know about the cool sites he checks out in his spare time…
1. Kottke.org
Because it’s great to think about other stuff than web apps. Kottke does a great job of pulling all sorts of expansive ideas and facts into a very simple digestible blog.
2. FFFound
Visual inspiration galore. Architecture, fashion, interface, design, and all sorts of intriguing stuff. It’s hard not to get inspired.
3. Notcot.org
All sorts of design related links from all sorts of disciplines. You read about it on other sites after you read about it here first.
4. TUAW- The Unofficial Apple Weblog
For all the Mac/iPhone news.
5. Digg
I know there are lots of better ways to spend my time, – but I like to keep up on the happenings in nerdville.
