Contagious Emotions will Reach Clients.

You know the feeling.

It’s having the guts to carry out your great idea. It’s waking up at 3 A.M. with the perfect way to implement it. It’s panicking a little with the fear that someone else has already done it better. It’s looking your project in the UI and forgetting anyone else even exists…

It’s passion.

Most of the passion is behind the scenes- stuff nobody sees because it takes place in your car on the way  home from work, or at 2 a.m. when you’ve figured out what your one button will be. The excitement you feel will probably spill over into the launch phase, and maybe even last longer. The real question is, how are you showing it? Does your passion shine through in your work? Are you proud every single day to be the face of your app… your company… your brand?

We’ve touched on several aspects of getting the word out there, but one of the most obvious ways of doing that is just being yourself about it. Let people see how excited you are about your idea, your unique programming, your innovative UI.

  • For example, you can tell this site is really excited about “having fun and going places” by the bold symbols on the homepage. Plus, the copy on the page flat out says as much- and you know they really mean it.

  • Vzaar makes it easy to see pinpoint their passion by their clever use of the “play” button. Even without reading any copy, you can tell the app is about video.

  • Square? They’re passionate about efficiency. Their copy gives it away…

  • Liz Danzico’s Bobulate Blog lets everyone know how passionate she is by the extremely common thread in all of her posts: words, and their relevance to design.

Alex Hunter lays it out in one of his FOWA talks. He says if you exert this type of passion in your app, it becomes viral. Your users are more likely to see it, and feel it. You’re your own biggest selling point.
