Jumpchart and Staction Availability
This morning, at approximately 11:30 am Eastern Time, both Jumpchart and Staction were unavailable for approximately 25 minutes. This was due to a complete outage of our hosting provider, Media Temple. The issue appears to have been caused by a problem at one of their data centers. According to their network status page, they are looking into the problem in detail and will post more details as they become available.
We want to apologize to all users who were unable to access Jumpchart and Staction during this outage. We will continue to follow Media Temple’s updates and relay any further details here.
If you are still experiencing problems with either Jumpchart or Staction, please get in touch with us immediately so that we can investigate your issue.
*UPDATE – Media Temple just added the following to their status page:
“Our engineers have spoken with the engineers at our El Segundo Data Center (EL-IDC3). Here are their findings:ASN number 47868 was broadcasting invalid BGP data that caused our routers, and a lot of other routers on the internet, to reboot. This invalid BGP data exploited a software bug in our routers. We have applied filters to prevent us from receiving this invalid data.
At this time they are in contact with their vendors to see if there is a firmware update that will address this. You can expect to see network delays and small outages across the internet as other providers try to address this same issue.”
